just made a batch for gps but it's occured to me I might have gone too early. I'll be gutted if so. what's the best way to store them - should I freeze them or put them in something airtight? they taste so nice fresh out of the oven, I'll be a bit gutted if they turn into something soft and disappointing.

soft and disappointing ay?

In your stomach...then you won't waste that just out of the oven taste...

airtight...really airtight.
Things can still go soft even in the freezer, but my biscuits are always a bit soft after the 1st day no matter how airtight i keep them.
Maybe MP was right!

I tend to agree - eat them! I would be surprised if they keep that long otherwise. Normally If I am making cookies ahead I go for something like biscotti which keeps forever!!! (if DH doesnt eat it all up )

Eat them and make some more. It is your responsibility to test them before serving them to anyone else anyway, so think of it as your civic duty
