Thinking of buying a rice cooker but really not certain what to get/what size etc. Quite keen to have a veg/steamer inset to it,
Anyone got any recommendations? Usual use will be fairly small, family of 4 with occasional use to 6-8 people.

I like the rice cooker ranges from here

yum-asia.com/uk/

You've got real premium ones to more affordable.

I got a really cheap one from Lidl so I'm not much use for suggestions on brands but I will say that rice cookers are brilliant and so much easier than faffing about with pans. You just put it on and forget about it. Perfect rice every time.

What type of rice do you like? If you prefer the ‘sticky’ type then you can get ones that go into your microwave.

Otherwise I had one that I bought from a ME shop that was good - I don’t use it because it took up too much room and I make rice the old fashioned way (steam it).

I have a Yum Asia one, the little one as there are only 3 of us & a lot of the time I’m cooking rice just for me. It has a steamer rack but it wouldn’t fit much in, maybe 1 serving of vegetables. I make rice a lot in it, it stays out permanently despite us having a small kitchen.

I have a tefal one and find it excellent. About 8 years old, used regularly. Great for keeping rice warm so family can eat at different times (which was why I got it initially). Son has small Lakeland one for university. He liked the timer function - could set it so rice was cooked when he got home.

We have one. It's brilliant. You can do all sorts in it.....steam, cook porridge make soup, use it for a steam boat......we do none of this just cook rice. Grin
It is a 1.2 litre capacity. There are 5 of us. It cook rice for about 7/8 servings if you fill it up. Speed up cooking time by adding boiling water rather than cold (My Chinese m-i-l gave me that tip.)

This is the one we have. It's quite new as our last one gave up....
