Hi does anyone have a tried and tested and loved chilli con carne recipe? I usually sub some of the meat with lentils when I use meat but I can just adapt.

Shot of espresso, chipotle chilli flakes and a square of good dark chocolate are my game changers. I also prefer to simmer it with a couple of cinnamon sticks in rather than use ground powder, plus finely chopped coriander stalks.

Thomasina Miers does a great recipe, very aromatic. I can't add the link but you could Google it. 'Totally Amazing Chilli Con Carne'. She uses braising steak in chunks, chorizo, a variety of chilli's, cinnamon, all spice, various herbs. It really is amazing.

Jamie Oliver's simple chilli I make this without the chickpeas: www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjzmtSlmsD0AhVrSfEDHQN_CP4QFnoECAMQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jamieoliver.com%2Frecipes%2Fbeef-recipes%2Fgood-old-chilli-con-carne%2F&usg=AOvVaw3AqnW0LlS401BiuZAjB3s9. Or Nigella does a banging one in her Christmas book for special occasions I can't find the link

This one's great. I use more veg than it does - I use carrot and celery as well as onion, and put in some red lentils too which are unnoticeable at the end.

we do the nigella one from Feast - it's a massive pot but we do it like that as a batch cook and freeze most of it. it's good but i did do a veggie one recently that was just as good but can't remember now where i got the recipe

BBC burnt aubergine chilli is lovely.

The Jamie Oliver veg curry is lovely as is the beef brisket chilli

For our regular beef mince curry though, we have a shared round the family recipe - basically browned mince, then add to slow cooker with chopped peppers, onions, garlic, chilli powder, tomato purée and couple of tins of beans in chilli sauce. It is very easy to make and delicious !
