Beef medium roasting joint. Slow cooker help

TheChip · 06/11/2021 10:50

I have never cooked beef before, so please help me cook it properly.
My plan is the slow cooker.

Its weight is 1.792kg and I cant get a clear cooking time from Google. All of the recipes also mention red wine and I don't have that either.

I thought I could just bung it in the slow cooker with a bit of stock...vegetable as I think thats all I have. Could I just use gravy granules?

What setting on the slow cooker for me to have it ready for about 6-7pm

Thanks fior that beef recipe, I would never have dreamed of using the slow cooker.

Thank you. I managed to find some beef stock cubes, so I just used them in the end. I'll have to buy some wine to try it that way next time.
It turned out really well!

Neither did I but I wanted a Sunday roast one weekend but we were out most of the day and I found this recipe. It works a treat and I blitz the liquid in the pressure cooker to make a lovely tasty gravy. It's one of my favourite easy recipes.

So pleased to hear you liked it. Definitely try it again with the wine!

I know you'bve done it now but just to say that slow cooking is very flexible and is my preferred way of doing a joint of beef. A joint of beef that is done in six hours is equally ok after 8 hours.

I always do my beef in the slow cooker. I tend to put it on a bad of onion (just quartered), chopped carrots and a tin of potatoes. Glass of red wine and a couple of beef stock pots. Low for about 8 hours and then take the beef out; wrap in foil and rest for about an hour. I blend up all the veg and juices in the slow cooker for gravy and leave this to Keep warm till needed. Sooo good
