Need help adjusting Christmas cake recipe to smaller cake

I usually make Christmas cakes as presents, but they are too big and this year I would like to make smaller cakes and then bake some other things to go with them in a nice hamper.

I want to bake Mary Berry's cake, but need a bit of help with the measurements and baking times.

I have a 6"/ 15cm baking tin which would be perfect for the size cakes I want to make. Since Mary asks for a 9" cake tin I take it that I should just use 2/3 of the ingredients?

What about the bake time? This is the bit that I am stuck on.

Apologies if this is a stupid question!

It isn’t a stupid question and I’m sure someone who knows more about baking will come along to answer it. But I just wanted to let you know there are specific recipes for tin cakes (basically you make miniature Christmas cakes in baked bean or similar cans). Or I’m sure someone said last year that they just used Delia’s recipe and divided between as many tins as it fit. You could possibly do that with the recipe you’ve selected. Xmas Smile

I found this last year but haven't actually tried it! Might help?

I don't know how wedded to using the Mary Berry recipe you are, OP, but I found this a few years ago and it's been very useful when I've baked Christmas cakes for different family members needing variously-sized cakes cakefrills.co.uk/home/recipes/rich-fruit-cake-recipes-for-various-sized-tins
