Semi frozen chicken?

Safe to cook or not? Google is giving me conflicting information!

Have a recipe for a lovely chicken soup that requires you place a whole chicken in a giant cast iron pot and let stew for a few hours. I took it out to defrost this morning but it's not thawed all the way through and if I want to eat it for dinner tonight I better start cooking now.

Would you pop it in and start cooking even though semi frozen?!

Yes just cook it for extra time to make sure it’s cooked all the way through and up to proper temp. Better to defrost a frozen chicken overnight in the fridge than leave it at room temperature, that’s more dangerous than cooking from frozen.
I imagine it would make quite a Greasy soup though, I’ve always got to leave chicken stock from a bird carcass to go cold and set so I can scrape the fat off before using it in soup or risotto.
Hope it’s tasty.

Ah brill. I'll wing it (pardon the pun) and pop it in now. I'll let you know if it goes tits up!

Never thought to use the bone broth in a risotto though, deffo giving that a go soon! Thanks for the tip.
