Soup maker

Can anyone recommend a reliable all-in-one soup maker?

I need one which sautés as well, so I don't need to use any other pans.
I've had TWO expensive Morphy Richards ones which have both gradually stopped functioning within a year!

I don't believe the reviews on Amazon - I want to treat myself to a new one, but no idea if they are all crap or there are some good ones out there? (I loved mine when it actually worked!)

I have a small morphy richards one. Its good but the one i have doesn't saute.

I have this morphy richards one: www.amazon.co.uk/Morphy-Richards-Control-501020-Soupmaker/dp/B01MFX5M4U/ref=psdc_3538334031_t5_B00XMK2GD4?th=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Hopefully it's not the same one as the one you had! I really love it - it sautes too. Am having soup from it for lunch right now!

That's exactly the one (two) I have owned which have both stopped working. I have used them both about 20 times - no idea why they stopped working Sad

I had a MR saute one - lasted less than yours !
I replaced it with a top-notch Lakeland model - lasted about 10 months before the base holding the goblet cracked.
I've gone back to using a saucepan.

I have one, I call it a pot. HTH Grin

I was looking at a clear one that chopped and cooked for Christmas, it's called a ninja soup and blender. Maybe this would be more reliable. I haven't bought yet, but reviews look positive on Amazon.

I recently bought the Lakeland touchscreen one - full price is £129. I had a morphy richards previously - this feels more substantial and also has a 3 year guarantee.

Used Lakeland loyalty discount vouchers & also top cash back so paid a bit less. Doesn't sauté - but works well - i just bung everything & let the soup maker cook it. I find it ideal for WFH lunches as it provides a warm, low cost, healthy lunch with very little prep time - just chop up a few veggies and throw in with some stock. Love it!

I’ve got a Tefal one that’s lasted me years, no sauté setting though, I’ve never needed it it’s this one: Tefal BL841140 Easy Soup and Smoothie Maker, Iron, 1000 W, 1.2 liters, White www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00QVKMPVA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_P1V8W1DE25KFFVNGX2C3?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
I also have an instant pot which has a soup setting and you can saute. You can also pressure cook in it. Only thing it doesn’t do is the blending so I still tend to use my soup maker for soup.

Starhaf · 26/10/2021 17:30

I forgot to add that the main reason I went for this one was that it has a simple self clean mode - just put in water and a few drops of washing up liquid and it wizzes it around and comes up pretty clean. I found the Morphy Richards version difficult to clean.

Have you checked the fuse in the plug OP? The fuse is located under the small cove on the plug bottom in-between the pins. Might be worth swapping a good fuse from an appliance that's working so you know it's OK. It will likely be 13amp size.

FrDamo · 26/10/2021 17:38

Going off piste: would you consider something like an instant pot?

That's how I make soup. Fry off meat/veg etc, add herbs/spices/stock, bang on the instant pot for 30mins. Sometimes I'll blend it or perhaps not if I'm going for a 'hearty' soup.

Then you can utilise the instant pot for its myriad other uses.

saleorbouy · 26/10/2021 17:39

If it's faulty in less than a year can you not get a replacement on guarantee?

It's not the fuse, the power is still coming on, I just get an error message and the thing doesn't do what it's supposed to Angry

In theory - but I've left it too long to claim now

I really liked being able to not have to get the blender out as well as I prefer smooth soups (I'm veggie and it cuts down on how careful you have to be about chopping all the veg uniformly if it all gets blended up)

As much as I hate Dyson maybe they need to bring out a sautéing soup-maker! Grin

If you really liked the Morphy Richards one maybe the thing to do is get it again but stay on top of the warranty. Fully ex0ect to need the warranty so have it pinned to your fridge with the receipt, and with any luck that will ensure it will work for years to come (only half joking).
