It's my turn to cook for friends, and we have done it so often I have completely run out of ideas. The others are amazing cooks and there is always a lot of effort goes in to it. If I can find a main then I can build the rest round it. Looking for something based round red meat.

Any suggestions?

Anyone else desperately waiting to find out what OP is going to make now? So many good ideas on here.

Ox cheeks slow braised in a bottle of decent red wine, low temp for hours, start by browning them then carrots, leeks/red onions, mushrooms, garlic, put cheeks back in turn heat up in goes the wine simmer to get rid of the alcohol, add good beef stock and herbs, lid on in a low oven for at least 5 hours. Serve with very buttery mash/new potatoes and green veg of some kind. Delicious

Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I'm going to keep this thread as there are plenty recipes to keep me going for entertaining all year! Now, I feel a bit guilty to tell you what I am actually going for, as it wasn't on here. But anyway, my main is going to be Moroccan spiced tenderloin of lamb with a harissa sauce, Moroccan carrots, green beans and cous cous. I've tried it out and it's delicious. I'm going to have a go at making baklava for pudding. Probable some sort of mezze platter for starter with home made flat bread and dips. Most of it can be prepared in advance.

You lot are ace. I have a dinner in December and couldn’t work out what to cook as a couple of guests are really fussy/ won’t eat a lot of things (lamb for example)
But a stuffed loin of pork totally fits the bill. Thank you 😊

@ItsJustTheOneSwanActually I highly recommend Felicity Cloake's porchetta recipe www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/aug/27/how-to-make-the-perfect-porchetta
Enjoy!
