I've fucked up - colour gel v coloured icing

Am I right in thinking this is just to colour food, rather than use to decorate cakes and biscuits?

I have icing sugar I can mix this up with but might be trickier to decorate the biscuits the kids I've made.

Any help much appreciated!

Thanks!

I'd put the icing sugar in a bowl, add a SMALL amount of water (like a teaspoon in a gu pudding ramikin full of sugar) and some drops of food dye - which is what you've bought - and mix well. You may need a bit more water, but add slowly.
Then put the coloured icing in a plastic food bag, and snip off the corner to make a piping bag.

Good luck!

Hope the biscuits were a success!

@2319inprogress they were thank you! I mean they look like crap (didn't do piping) but tasted nice and the kids (3 year old and 1 year old) enjoyed the process. Although 3 year old kept saying "can I eat some now" every two seconds and I'm pretty sure 1 year old ate some of the raw dough but hey ho. Not the most relaxing experience 😆 and kitchen was a bomb site after!

Oh my goodness they are indeed a success & you deserve a medal for doing them with 1&3yr olds! Mine always eat the dough Grin like their mother
