Sorry if wrong topic, didn't know where to post. Are dualit worth the money and has anyone seen any offers.

Have both, toaster has been going strong for about 9 years (wow, can’t believe we’ve had it that long!), and had the kettle about 2 months. It looks good and fits more water than most.

justabigdisco · 15/10/2021 20:19

I bought both many years ago. Toaster is still going strong but kettle had to be replaced. Kettle did get a lot more use though tbf

Aberdeen2 · 15/10/2021 20:19

Yes I would agree, no problems with either and have had for 3 years. Did buy through JL just in case there were issues as I think they have a guarantee.

My toaster is over 25 years old and still going strong! It has had the timer replaced in that time, but the fact that it’s repairable at all rather than having to be thrown away when it breaks makes it a good long term choice both financially and environmentally.

I was hesitant before buying it, as it was so much more expensive than our usual ones, but the previous couple had only lasted a matter of months before breaking or losing an element, so it was a kind of desperate attempt to stop having to keep buying toasters. Looks like it worked Grin

Had the four slice toaster and matching kettle for about ten years now. Both going strong. Kettle needs regular rescaling as we’re a hard water area, but other than that great.

myrtleWilson · 15/10/2021 20:26

Had a four slice toaster for over 25 years before it broke... Have switched to a 2 slicer now. Not had a kettle though...

thefirstmrsrochester · 15/10/2021 20:28

I’ve had my dualit toaster for nearly 20 years and it’s still going strong. Dualit kettle on the other hand lasted 3 years, complete waste of money.

LakeShoreD · 15/10/2021 20:28

My parents Dualit toaster is older than I am! Not sure about the kettle though.

XingMing · 15/10/2021 20:29

The toaster is definitely worth it; can't vouch for the kettle. We bought the toaster in 1988, and it's still going strong. But we have had a few replacement elements fitted during the near 40 years we've had it.

PickAChew · 15/10/2021 20:29

You need to get the original type toaster, not the electronic one. Just put a new element in our 17 year old one, last week.

This

Kettle lasted 2 or 3 years, toaster 5 or 6 years old and going strong.

mafted · 15/10/2021 20:31

Our toaster is at least 30. It's had an element replaced but otherwise all good.
Never had the kettle, we've never had much luck with kettles so maybe we should have.

IGotHam · 15/10/2021 20:31

I've had my toaster for 14 years. Still going strong. Kettles break every two years IMO. But whatever make of kettle i have they all conk out at the two year mark.

KateyKontent · 15/10/2021 20:33

We have had a toaster for 20 years plus.

The elements still work but I feel we need to replace the mostly used two.

FlyingFlamingo · 15/10/2021 20:33

Our toaster is 14 years old, like a pp we have had to replace the timer. The kettle was bought at the same time and needed replacing about 2 years ago, we got another Dualit.

didireallysaythat · 15/10/2021 20:35

Yes to the toaster. Bought one on eBay. Fab

CaledonianSleeper · 15/10/2021 20:40

The toaster is brilliant. But the kettle is fabulously loud! I’m not sure how just heating up water can make so much noise. Had it about 3 years.

Holothane · 15/10/2021 20:41

We’re having these for our kitchen make over in yellow.

QuitMoaning · 15/10/2021 20:45

Just to be awkward, I bought a tefal toaster for £30 11 years ago and it still works absolutely fine.

I lust after a dualit but when others work this well then I find it difficult to justify in my head. I do wish my tefal would die so I can buy a dualit though.

xsquared · 15/10/2021 22:48

Our Dualit was a wedding present from 20 years ago. Still works fine.

emlouwat · 15/10/2021 22:51

Got ours in 2017 and going v strong

My dualit was after a run of 3 tefal in 4 years.
Imtoooldforallthis · 16/10/2021 12:40

Just bought a dualit lite cream one of ebay, used but looks in immaculate condition, £20. Now need a kettle to match, what should I go for?

Gave out toaster away, bloody rubbish. have the kettle too, its really LOUD.

SoupDragon · 16/10/2021 12:49

My toaster is 24 years old. It's had a few new elements but being able to repair it is one of the plus points for me. I probably need to replace the timer Too.

It won't quite be Trigger's Broom though!
