'Date night' recipes?

Sorry if you're one of those people that hate the phrase 'Date night' Grin

Thinking of having a nice night in on Saturday night with DP and looking for some inspiration on what to cook together while sharing a bottle of wine! Looking online brings up a lot of complicated and frankly a bit pretentious recipes, (Lobster etc, that kind of thing).

Don't eat shellfish/fish.
Things that we like that have already been done to death are curries, pasta dishes (eg carbonara, arrabiatta etc), chicken & chorizo paella, steak and chips.

Think I'll end up going to M&S due to not being able to think of anything but really wanted some different ideas.

Nigella's bavette steak marinaded in tamarind. Bavette is just flank, not expensive at all. I could it when hosting friends. It's delicious

How about a Thai curry? The first thing DH ever cooked for me was a Thai chicken curry & it was delicious.

If it's something you wanted to make together, what about home made pizzas?
Or something you want to eat together, tapas?
Other hits have been homemade nandos and as pp said, Thai curry.

You can't beat a good steak and chips IMO.

I love Lebanese/Levantine food. The lamb and the aubergine and the pickles and so forth are all lovely. All equally easy for cooking with steak and chips etc but just a bit different. The recipe book Honey and Co is gorgeous.
