What would you serve with this tart?

Having friends over for food for the first time in forever! Seeing as we used to do this a lot I'm stressing and over thinking to a massive degree.

I've found this, which has a nice oooooh factor, but what to serve with it? If it was summer I'd do salads, a green, a potato and a couple of others but it's October.

What are your thoughts? Vegetarian options only please? Smile

Tart

Id still do salad and maybe new potatoes, even though it's autumn! But I would eat salad anytime.

IAmSantaOhYesIAm · 14/10/2021 08:25

You can still do salad! Lovely mixed salad, coleslaw and new potatoes,
Or
Asparagus and new potatoes
Or
Green beans, baby corn and new potatoes.

Andrewthecharminbumwiper · 14/10/2021 08:38

Wow that looks amazing! What about roasted baby potatoes with garlic, lemon zest and a bit of rosemary (not too much), and a warm salad, so including some roasted veg and/or baked cheese? Green beans with shallots macerated in lemon would alternatively be good- fresh and snappy but warm. I think as long as you keep it flavoursome, reasonably light and colourful but adding in a bit of warmth and comfort.

Parmentier potatoes and asparagus.

CheeseMaiden · 14/10/2021 08:48

Ohh, @Andrewthecharminbumwiper, a baked cheese is genius!

Kayemm · 14/10/2021 08:54

Some fab ideas - Not sure about the cheese as the tart is cheesey - but is there ever too much cheese?

Roasted salt crusted baby potatoes - when they're cooked remove from oven, split, add herb and garlic cream cheese then stick back in oven for 5 minutes. Serve with French style green beans.

Mumdiva99 · 14/10/2021 08:59

Roasted veg....that you can put in the oven when the tart is cooking.
Boiled potatoes- otherwise to much fat/grease (for me). Fresh bread maybe as well....or instead....

Winter slaw and home made wedges

tiffanyshoes · 20/10/2021 22:10

Roast potatoes, green veg such as beans or broccoli in a lemon butter? Winter slaw? Autumn root veg: squash

These roasties are lovely.

What about an autumn salad like this but without the cheese www.gimmesomeoven.com/feel-good-fall-salad/

rainbowunicorn · 21/10/2021 21:35

I would do this warm red cabbage and apple slawwww.inspiredtaste.net/8156/warm-cabbage-and-apple-salad-recipe/
I would also do some roast butternut squash cut into rough chunks and roasted with olive oil and garlic.
I might also add some green beans

Is the tart the main meal/dish?

I'd do warm salads. Something like this, with warm pumpkin and a veggie rennet in the feta:

Warm potato salad or stuffed, mini squash/pumpkins. Like this:

SinoohXaenaHide · 21/10/2021 21:47

That tart looks fabulous. Can I come too?

I would do a side dish of steamed veg medley - french beans, broccoli and baby sweetcorn, all tossed in herb butter.

Potatoes would be too much for me given the pastry.
