Dried wild mushrooms, way past use-by date - are they still OK to use?

In an airtight kilner jar, never been opened, but best before date is, ahem, December 2003 . What do you reckon? Still OK, or chuck and keep the rather nice jar?

LOL! DH is very dubious about sell-by dates, he says that the commercial quantities they get on board don't even have them - but I think even he would baulk at FOUR YEARS!

i have some 04 capers and ds was horrified that i said they were fine

i would use dried stuff - may not taste that hot but aside from that fine!

I know - four years is a bit steep. But they do look OK. Mind you, there is a label on it that says they're best kept in the freezer. Might try a few, and see. They might just not be very flavourful, but unlikely to actually poison us ?
