When my old SC died, I did some research & bought this SC :-

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08CVVSX2K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

£20 ish is a good price, & I think the size might suit you.
I'm very happy with it.

I have a "sear and stew" I think it's called, by Morphy Richards. Mine isn't enormous (it would probably do a Bolognese to serve 6 or maybe 8 at a real push) but it can go on the hob, so I can brown meatballs/mince etc while I chop up the veg, then get everything boiling on the hob before it goes into the slow cooker - it means I don't worry about then just leaving it on low all day because it's all got up to boiling already, rather than feeling it has to be on high. And I do prefer slow cooked things where they had a bit of frying off for e.g. onions etc first.

BTW, I use liners from Amazon "Toastabags Slow Cooker Liner (Pack of 25)" for £3.49.
