I offer a sandwich; hot cross bun, banana, biscuits, ice cream, apple, crackers, or sometimes I give dinner super early and then a snack at 6ish

I give a full dinner as soon as DC gets home, then he can have as many snacks as he wants. It requires more effort on my part in terms of having a near ready dinner on arrival but it means DC eating less snacks.

I try and give them a dinner too.
Decent amount of veg and potatoes (they take a packed lunch so are glad of something warm)

I always give a snack in the car on the way home. Something quick and easy and filling - piece of fresh bread&butter; banana; bun that kind of thing.

Dinner here too around 4 so i know he is super hungry and will eat it. If i give snacks he wont much dinner.

Snack on the way home here. Cereal bar, apple, nuts, cheese string etc. Dinner is fairly late around 6 so they will eat both no problem.

I used to give dinner straightaway...in fact we lived so close to the school, I'd keep it warm in the oven, dash out to pick him up and as soon as we got in I served it up!

Ours has his tea as soon as he gets in, as he is always hungry and it's better that he's full in one hit rather than, I'm still hungry, I'm still hungry.
Then he can have snacks when he wants and then supper.

Doublechins · 05/10/2021 21:46

Mine have cereal

languagelover96 · 06/10/2021 10:30

Pizza
Cornish pasty

Sandwiches

CMac79 · 06/10/2021 16:27

As long as no nut allergies - what about apple slices and peanut butter. Or corn/rice cakes with peanut butter?

MumOfBoys16 · 06/10/2021 21:08

Thank you, some great ideas here 😊
