Anyone have a good recipe for biscuits I can decorate for Christmas?

I can't find what I am looking for, which is a Christmassy tasting biscuit recipe that is not too bobbly to ice and decorate. I want to cut out trees and holly leaves with my new biscuit cutters and decorate them with icing so I can give them away as cheapskate presents.

And the prize goes to the person with the biscuit recipe that is easy and cheap to make and yet freezeable (before icing obviously).

Anyone?

Do you want something that has a X-massy taste or something like plain Butter biskuits?

Not sure if any of my recipes are freezable...

here are some recipes that look good

Oh those recipes are great, thanks so much.

I want something with a bit of spice in it I suppose. I'll experiment with freezing and well, I'll have to eat them myself if the first batch doesn't freeze well won't I?!

make sweet pastry (flour, half butter/baking fat, sugar, dribble of water) cut into christmas shapes, use small round cutter to cut hole out of middle, put on baking tray with boiled sweet in hole, bake, voila - stained glass effect christmass biscuits!

and you can add spices to that recipe, a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, whatever you fancy!

here's a recipe

they look like this

NineUnlovelyTinselDecorations · 07/12/2007 14:25

Wow - stained glass biscuits I might just give that a go.

yes, do! They are so easy and yet look soooo impressive!

Have just bought boiled sweets and will make later. I'm quite excited actually (must be the Blue Peter effect)!

excellent! Let us know how they turn out!

NineUnlovelyTinselDecorations · 07/12/2007 23:38

Well they aren't the most sophisticated biscuits ever made but I am pretty proud of them! Mine are bells with circular 'stained glass' bits. As a bonus, I have dsicovered just how difficult it is to crush a Fox's Glacier Fruit with a wooden rolling pin(very).

Am planning to try 3Jingles German biscuits recipe tomorrow.

To crush anything: double bag in freezer bag, hand bag and rolling pin to enthusiastic 7+ year old, leave for 20 minutes.
