Malt loaf - earl grey tea or black tea?

About to make my first but would you recommend Earl Grey as a base tea or black tea ?

Do they always have tea in?

I'd use plain black breakfast type tea, Earl Grey is a strong flavour that probably won't go well with a malty flavour.

I would try a strong black tea.
