Was on furlough last year and smashed it with an Elsa doll cake extravaganza. Not going to have much time this year and she's having her first proper party in a while - so looking for a show stopper but that's relatively quick to make.

If you've done something surprisingly easy but dramatic can you share your designs??

What about one of those gravity cakes?

Is the cake for the party? Personally I'd buy the "Wild Inside" cake from Asda and then a big 6 candle and some indoor sparklers. Job done.

Then I'd make a few dozen really cute cupcakes in several flavours and a big platter or fruit salad arranged like a rainbow, and hand those round at the party. The look of sheer delight as cupcakes are handed round, and the kids' eyes darting round the plate to try and choose the best one. It's way better than a plate of chocolate fingers and jammy Dodgers.

The cake is only seen for a few minutes then hacked up for party bags. Whereas the cupcakes will be on trays handed round by attending parents, who always want to be helpful.

why don't you just buy one.
can look up online.
lots available, all sorts of designs.
why make life more difficult.
unless you find it relaxing to do it. can't imagine that myself.
hope it all goes well.

@Blondie1984's suggestion is great but you can also do an even simpler one that looks very exciting to children.

Standard cake, icing on top, Kit Kat's all around the edge and pile any kind of sweets or chocolate in the middle, ribbon around the whole thing.

Wow @PennyWus I love that Asda cake!

I do enjoy making them - but realistically this year will be very time poor so I might get an extravagant eBay topper set to go on that and be done with it.
