Easy reheatable meals for families of 4+

xsquared · 13/09/2021 20:47

I have volunteered myself to be on the rota for cooking for a family of 4 after the arrival of a new baby and I will also be cooking for another family who has been hit with illnesses all summer.

Apart from bolognese and curry, which I see have already been offered on the rota, what meals can I make that is easily reheated?

Thank you in advance.

My default would have been lasagne but ugh j having lasagne the daystar they have song bol would bea bit too similar.

You can reheat risotto but it doesn’t really fare well with reheating. Chilli, goulash, meat/bean stews, curries, shepherds pie are all pretty good after reheating. Various types of lasagne-y baked dishes - butternut squash and chicken, spinach and ricotta, aubergine parmigiana, moussaka- also reheat well.

Lentil Dahl. This is my go to freezer meal. Or chilli?

I wouldn't reheat risotto because rice is a bit dodge once it's been cooked.

How lovely 😊

Vegetable curry
Tray bakes
Spinach and potato curry (aka Saag aloo)
Shepherd’s pie
Pasta bake
Chicken pie
Chilli con carne

Oh dear! I made a real hash of this post on my phone! I've got a keyboard now, so I'll rewrite...

My default would have been lasagne but I thought having lasagne the day after they have spag bol would be a bit too similar.

Anyway, some lovely ideas thank you.

The risotto heats fine, I just add a couple of spoons of water & zap it. I regularly make the risotto for the two of us and then have the rest the next day.
