Has anyone used jam to make kids' jelly?

Over the last few weeks, I've been making wild seedless blackberry jam in my kitchen. And it occurred to me that it must be possible to use this jam to make a blackberry jelly that DD can eat with ice-cream. Surely, all I need to do is dilute the jam (it's quite pokey) and then add gelatine.

Has anyone done this kind of thing? If so, what are the considerations and pitfalls?
