Has anyone made a little girl’s cake recently?

I’m thinking of making dd’s birthday cake this year. I’ve bought them from caking makers in the past but I think I’ve done the rounds on local cake makers now and they’ve always been stale or just not very good. I haven’t baked in years but used to make a good sponge so not worried about that part it’s more the decorating really. She’ll want something pink and girly. Any ideas?

Not pink and girly but I did a peppa pig muddy puddle cake that was pretty straight forward if she likes peppa there's loads if you Google and I just tweaked it a bit Cake

Dolly mixtures, pink and white marshmallows and Cadbury chococolsye fingers. Oh, and a big pink ribbon!

We made a Frozen cake for my niece once and bought a personalised round topper from Amazon, the sort that covers the top of the cake. You could then just ice the top & sides in a pink coloured (or whatever) buttercream.

I was going to suggest similar. If you have a good recipe for whatever type of cake you like, those personalised toppers are amazing and you can then do whatever you like on the sides. When DD was younger she was obsessed with smarties so we used to decorate the entire sides with smarties and stick the topper on top. My mum was the master of using ribbons cleverly to add to the "prettiness" and would buy little decorations she could tie into the ribbons or even use fresh flowers.
