My daughters starting reception and I’m just looking for some packed lunch ideas I know schools can be fussy on this kind of thing so thought I would ask for some ideas! What do others send?

Most holidays, I batch-cook and freeze a load of savoury muffins, savoury flapjacks, sausage rolls and mini frittatas. Once they run out and I don’t have any time to make more, I normally give my dc a sandwich, wrap or pitta as their ‘main’ item.
They then have about 3 or 4 other items, depending on their age or appetite.
Dairy or protein: Frube, cheese portion or sausages
Fruit: raisins, easy peeler, grapes, berries, apple or banana
Veg: cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrot or red pepper
‘Treat’: cereal bar, Soreen banana bread bar, rice cakes, popcorn, digestive biscuits or pot of jelly.

Cheese

Veg sticks, with some sort of dip.

Ds used to have:
Filled sandwich/ filled pitta pockets/ cold cheesey pasta/ crackers with chorizo and cheese
Cucumber sticks (the only veg he would eat)
Fruit or box of raisins (I'd have to cut up his kiwi but other fruits was fine)
Scotch eggs, a boiled egg, sausage roll or cocktail sausages also went down a treat too.
Frube (yogurt in a tube)
Sometimes I'd put a cheese string or a baby bell in there too but only if his sandwich didn't contain cheese! *his sandwiches were either cheese & cucumber, ham, marmite, pate & sometimes he would specifically ask for bread and butter, (I think he'd put his cocktail sausages in there!)
Water

Schools normally steer clear of juice, jelly, chocolate, crisps and nut products.

Whole fruit,
Dairy (cheese or yoghurt),
Carb (rice, pasta, potato, bread or lentils), Meat (ham or left over from dinner)
Veg(left over from dinner or something from a can, or tomatoes and cucumbers)
Water

Most schools don't allow nut items, so no peanut butter, pesto, Nutella etc.

Ours is pretty relaxed about what goes in, I usually put a cheese sandwich, yoghurt tube, cucumber, tomatoes, chopped grapes and a few crisps (in the lunchbox not in the packet and not a whole packet).

In England she’s entitled to free school lunches everyday if that helps!

Yes we are in England but due to dietary requirements and the school not following them with my older children I’ve decided for her to be on packed lunches so there are no more slip ups. Some great ideas thanks!
