Odd question: when I cook steak I deglaze the pan with a glass of wine, add a lot of ground black pepper, a spoon of mustard, and a dollop of cream or sour cream or yogurt.
Does a sauce like this have a name? DD17 calls it pink sauce (as it's usually red wine) but as far as I'm aware it's a pretty standard technique and not called pink sauce.
Thanks

Google brings up lots of recipes for ‘red wine mustard sauce’ if you type those ingredients in 😂

I think it's like a Diane sauce?

2andahalfpints · 03/09/2021 21:33

It's Diane sauce but with wine instead of cognac

Bloody love steak Diane. Also goes well with pork chops.

OPs recipe sounds delicious but it's not quite a Diane.

Does it matter if it’s got a name? You like it and that what matters.

It's pretty much a peppercorn sauce, but you're just using ground pepper, I'd imagine.

It does if she wants to order it in a restaurant surely?

Plenty of ppl like to make sauces which are very different to traditional cheffy sauces and they do not need to have a name.

it's not very different to a traditional sauce, according to the OP
