HELP...Chorizo...how long to cook???

I bought a link from Aldi, I have honey and grain mustard.

How long do I cook the Chorizo for before adding the honey and mustard???

Are you chopping it first?

Just add straight to pan, no oil needed and just let it sizzle until it looks crispy and releases oil. Hardly any time at all, couple of mins max

Chop it small and fry until the oil runs.

I don't really understand the recipe...

What are you making? Cut in slices and dry fried gently (it burns easily) it will be done in a couple of minutes each side.

Cold dry pan, thin slices, heat slowly about a minute each side.

Not sure about honey & mustard though.

But surely chorizo is strong so will overpower any honey and mustard you add. Like other pp I find the recipe strange

What are you serving it with? Would it not normally be part of a main dish?

Why the honey and mustard? What are you serving the chorizo with? It fries in minutes, you'll see it crisping up.

Op have you got a pic of the packaging I think I'd quite like to try that and will keep my eye out when I. Next go to aldi.

Just checked my Aldi pack in the fridge - no mention of honey & mustard ?

Is that the whole meal?

Chorizo is ready to eat, so it depends on the recipe you are making or if you just want it lightly warmed or very crispy.

I wouldn’t cook the whole link at once unless you are feeding a lot of people. It’s strong and rich and is usually added to other things rather than eaten on its own. The rest will keep for ages in the fridge.

I peel the skin off, cut into tiny chunks (kitchen scissors helpful for both of these) and then fry for a good 15-20 mins.

Sorry so we has some tapas style chorizo in a bar last week was gorgeous.

Picked some up from Aldi to try myself, never cooked it before.

Was it definitely honey mustard glaze.

I can't imagine tbe mustard and chorizo would comment eachother very well.

not all chorizo is cooked and ready to eat

if it is sliced from the deli then fine, but if it's in a sausage then it almost certainly needs to be cooked before eating.

(Note to MIL, see also: pancetta!! I always offer to cook now at hers!)

At risk of unintentionally starting a sausage war... Chorizo is absolutely able to be eaten as it comes, and the sausages are how it is before it appears as slices on a deli counter

BUT I am ready to learn. Is it definitely Chorizo if it's not cooked?

PS completely agree on Pancetta. Totally different product. Who wants to eat raw bacon!

Not all chorizo is ready to eat, some definitely needs cooked.
I don't think the recipe sounds bad though I've made chorizo in a honey and balsamic glaze as part of a tapas meal and its delicious.

you have the cured and air dried (similar to salami and other deli products) and then you have the more sausage style that must be cooked.

You get the harder link, which is fine to eat raw but nicer fried off. There are also the chunkier shorter sausages that are soft and do need proper cooking. There's obviously the thinly sliced stuff in a pack too - eat as is.
