Where has a good range of GF convenience foods? Things like frozen or freezeable pizza, for example. And which are nicest?

Ocado. The White Rabbit GF pizza is my current favourite, but everything is a bit down to personal taste with GF.
Tesco is second for me, I really like their df/gf tiramisu for example

Ocado. The M&S range of 'made without' seems to go down very well with gluten free DH. The rest of family not GF but I can normally find an equivalent for DH so we are all eating the 'same' Schar products also good.

Pieminister do wonderful gluten free pies with light, flakey pastry. I haven’t discovered another brand that can rival these yet! The veggie Heidi has a wonderful creamy sweet potato, goat’s cheese and spinach filling, plus there are steak and chicken free pies to sample too. I’ve got them from Waitrose and Sainsbury’s.
White Rabbit and Whole Creations are my top choices for gluten free pizza. White Rabbit just edge into first place. Both are available in Sainsbury’s.
Sainsbury’s, Coop and M&Sdo excellent gluten free fish cakes. The Sainsbury’s Melting Middle variety are amazing. The M&S ones are normally on offer so you can get away with buying two packs between the two of you (one by itself would not fill me up). Most of the gluten free ready meals from M&S are pretty decent in fact (try the tempura chicken – yum!).
The Coop are worth checking out as many of their normal products are actually gluten free – I am talking about their fish cakes, onion bhajis, breaded cod and chicken pakoras, for example.
The M&S pork chipolatas are excellent and the Jolly Hog range is another one worth trying and they’re in Sainsbury’s. All the Tesco finest sausages seem to be gluten free too and their chipolatas are excellent.

Dr peter GF pizza in Sainsbury's
Morrison's has the best GF range in the supermarkets

Sainsbury’s and Tesco are best I think.
I like genius brown bread (I think genius is the best brand for baked things, but Sainsbury’s and Tesco do nice cookies), and goodfellas frozen pizza is my preferred one.

Yeah another vote for the White Rabbit pizzas. And also Schar frozen (both Waitrose). I don't mind the 80p frozen Morrison's one either with a few added toppings of my own. Great value. Waitrose also have some frozen GF ready meals and M&S also good for this

DD has got two coeliacs in the house, and she said that it depends on your local supermarkets. She gets most of the basics from our local Asda and Tesco as they have a really good lower cost range.

M & S and Waitrose equally have good ranges, and our local Sainsburys has a massive "Free From" aisle but it does tend to be more expensive.

Dilbertian · 22/08/2021 18:47

This is brilliant, thanks. I can get a stock in the freezer, then when the rest of the family have pizza or some such, I can have the same as them.

Dd hates the white rabbit pizzas. Morrisons do gluten free pizza bases at their pizza counters. You can either buy the bases or risk the cross contamination and get them to make you a pizza. Dd risks it and she’s very sensitive and has never had an issue. I seem to be struggling to find pizza express gf pizza in the supermarkets recently, not sure if they’ve stopped stocking it but if you can find it they’re ok.

Pieminister have stopped doing their veggi gf pies, but do still make a steak one. I now make my own gf heidi pies using jus roll gf pre rolled pastry.

I got some frozen gf bread rolls from sainsburys yesterday which get very good reviews…not tried them yet. Think they’re schar.
