dh says we have to keep the butter in fridge. if my back is turned he slips it in. i have always (and so did mum) kept butter in butter dish in the larder. why put it in fridge? it just comes out like a brick and useless.

if dh gets butter out of fridge he slices it like cheese and puts it on his toast. whereas i spread it

True - would not look pretty against the gingham cloth. Still think you should be bringing fresh Normandy butter home in your basket....

Oops - sorry. I don't feel that strongly about it!

I used to let my DH keep it outside the fridge till I read in a book the kind of creepy crawlies that get in it outside of the ffridge. We argue about this all the time.

What book was that, Paula?

Ha ha - sounds like our house. I love butter sliced, straight out of the fridge. Dp thinks this I'm begging for a heart attack and gets very . We usually have two packs, one in the fridge and one in our wondrous Nigella butter dish - christmas present last year and can keep butter just right even when it's really hot - can highly recommend it (but it's not as good as slicing the butter! ).

I'll have to look it out, its here somewhere, it was about the organisms that live on our bodies and on our food and in our homes. It was really eye opening
