What were these sweets?

Trying to remember a favourite sweet from the 1990s/2000s. They were a wrapped chewy sweet in a rectangular shape (not opal fruits or chew it's) and I remember them being orange by there might have been different flavours. The main thing was that they had little bits of fizzy hard bits in them. Argh I really can't remember their name at all and it's driving me bonkers. I am sure they don't make them any more.

Agree with @Luckystar1 pretty sure they were fuzzy chewits. Our tuck shop only ever had orange flavoured ones.

N4ish · 15/08/2021 21:57

I’m now absolutely craving a Wham bar!

chairchoo · 15/08/2021 21:57

We're they really sour inside?

Sorry, typo! Drooling too hard.

sleepyhoglet · 15/08/2021 21:58

I feel like they began with the letter T but could be completely wrong

They aren't bars... the same sort of size as a chew it but rectangle. Still feel the name involved a 't' or the word 'tang'

Were they tinos from m and S?

CatRatSplat · 15/08/2021 22:00

Tango did some fizzy chewing sweets?

chairchoo · 15/08/2021 22:00

I loved these.

sleepyhoglet · 15/08/2021 22:02

I think I've got it! FRUITANG is their name

God I remember these! Were they like Tango sweets or something? Like the fizzy drink but as sweets with the little crystals inside to give a bit of fizz?

FizzyPink · 15/08/2021 22:02

I loved those sour Chewits even though they made my mouth so sore 😂 Used to buy them from the school tuck shop

I know exactly what you mean! Just no name coming to mind.

Yes to being packaged like the sour chewits I think! They were more a corner shop than a supermarket sweet!

Irn bru bars had pink fizzy bits on the underside. They were orange.

EverythingsComingUpRoses · 15/08/2021 22:09

Just been watching the Trevor and Simon advert for fruitang

Very much of its time 🤣

SkyLarkDescending · 15/08/2021 22:12

YES! Fruitang!!! I could feel my blood pressure rising reading this thread and am so relieved you have found the answer.

My dad came home one night with 10 catering sized boxes of the things (some random guy from work's wife worked in a sweet factory or some such tale) and we had them in the garage for over a year!

Me and DSis tried to give them away to anyone who visited our house Grin

2020nymph · 15/08/2021 22:12

I had forgotten about them, they were so good!

Waitwhat23 · 15/08/2021 22:17

I'm so glad that you remembered the name because that would have driven me mad. I absolutely loved them!

Ponderingsloth · 05/08/2023 19:11

I think it’s fruitang your thinking of maybe.

It's always worth skimming the thread (at least the OP's posts) before adding your thoughts, especially when resurrecting a zombie thread.

Sorry to reply to a post that's 4 years old, but I have also been trying to find out the name of these type of sweets and it's been driving me crazy, so thought I would register and hopefully answer the question if anyone is still wondering 😂. I think I've possibly finally found out what they are... Fruitangs! Strawberry, orange and apple flavours
