Toaster for Hot Cross Buns

suziedoozy · 11/08/2021 21:20

I know this is random but I need some help / guidance.

DH would eat Hot Cross Buns every day if he could but it seems to upset out cheapy toaster

Can anyone recommend a decent 4 slice toaster that would cope with them?

Thank you Smile

Cut them into 3 slices instead of two. They don't get stuck so no bits/fruit fall off or burn?

Have you got a George Foreman grill? Might work in that.

PeonyTime · 11/08/2021 21:28

Put them under the grill.

We just put them under the grill. Don't have a toaster at all.

I use the bagel setting so it toasts the cut part but doesn’t burn the top.

One option would be to get a flatbed toaster for his buns and keep a normal toaster just for toast.

Another option is to get a toaster that has compatible sandwich cages (eg Dualit) and toast buns in the cages.

George Home (Asda)'s own-brand 4 slice toasters are awesome.

MulticolouredPostItNotes · 11/08/2021 21:34

We use the George Foreman.

Oh I misread the title as taster instead of toaster 😂😂 now I'm disappointed

We have a bread maker, and make a spicy fruit loaf that tastes exactly like hot cross buns. So I can slice it as thick or thin as I like.

Thank you everyone - some good suggestions

We do make bread / pizza dough but I think hot cross buns might be a stretch time wise

I’ll have a look at all the suggestions Flowers
