Really tasty Saturday night tea.

Looking for ideas for Saturday night tea for two with minimal washing up. Our usual is steak sandwiches, burgers, baked camembert or pizzas. But fancy a change, both at work today and don't want a lot of clearing up, but don't want pasta or stir fry. Preferably eat in front of telly with a glass of wine type meal.

We're having the Gousto Chicken Saag. Really, really tasty and it takes 2 pots. One for the curry and one for the rice. We love that one, perfect of a wet Saturday night Smile

Spanish meat, cheese hummus, crusty bread.

Fankehxudb · 07/08/2021 13:44

BBQ ribs, chips and coleslaw?

Polmuggle · 07/08/2021 13:47

What about a curry box?

orangejuicer · 07/08/2021 13:51

Sounds like pasta is required OP. You can make it as simple or complicated as you like. 2 pans. Lots of wine.

MrsFin · 07/08/2021 13:54

Corned beef hash. One frying pan.

Lonelynow · 07/08/2021 14:07

Mexican is my favourite. Nachos, fajitas, tacos whatever. Or some chicken kebabs in pitta bread , also a sort of platter with chicken wings or goujons, mozzarella sticks, breaded mushrooms, onion rings, garlic bread and some dips 🐷.

Decided on burgers but caprese ones. I can't find the recipe to link but it is mayo and pesto mixed on the buns then layers of burger, tomato, mozzarella, avocado and rocket.

But the corned beef hash one is good as I can prepare before hand and just have one dish to wash.

Also saved the prawn and pea risotto and the fish finger tacos. They both look good for midweek meals.

Beef stroganoff, really rich and tasty, plus fillet steak.
I like it served with a white and wild rice mix, or sometimes just a rocket salad with really good, ripe tomatoes.

I love that! Husband and I used to make it and it was quite a treat.

Fajitas! Or tacos / soft taco boats. Chop chicken, chop peppers / onions, fry in slice mix and add generous amounts of sour cream, guacamole and grated cheese

Chicken and chips

Good quality chicken thighs/drumsticks

Plenty of salt

Roast them in a tray

Cook chips in your preferred way.

More salt

Ketchup.

Some corn on the cob drowned in butter if you want a vegetable

PigletJohn · 08/08/2021 23:37

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 08/08/2021 23:46

We always have fajitas. I just get the kits from aldi and put cheese, curly fries and salad out too. It's the highlight of my food week Blush

StiffyByng · 10/08/2021 10:19

We ended up roasting chicken thighs with loads of butter and garlic, and adding the meat to soft rolls with lettuce, shredded M&S onion bhajis and some reheated butter chicken sauce from a ready meal our daughter had earlier in the evening. Accompanied by random M&S loaded potato skins. Very satisfying.
