Mindful Chef meal boxes

Anyone doing this and interested in swapping thoughts on their boxes?

Started it a few months back after leaving Gusto and loving it so far. Has rescued us from some boring food habits and weirdly turned the dds into much more adventurous eaters. Within reason - there’s still plenty they don’t eat Grin

Had ratatouille today and the salmon with avocado salad yesterday. Really liked both.

Anyone else doing this one?

I’ve not tried them but my mum is a huge fan. She lives on her own, cooking daily for my 92yo nana and it is lovely to hear her enthusiasm for the new ingredients and flavour combinations.

I love mindful chef!

Foxhasbigsocks · 03/08/2021 06:18

Ah that’s so lovely @1frenchfoodie - sounds like your nana is an impressively adventurous eater for 92!

@GreenSalon glad to hear I’m not alone!! Pleased to hear you also like their boxes. Are you having one this week?

Had one on Saturday

I’ve used them weekly for some time and they were excellent during the lockdowns. Quite a good variety and I particularly like to try new vegan/veggie meals for a change.

However, their packaging has seriously deteriorated of late. We have had repeated broken and split containers on poultry. They really need to fix this & I’m really reconsidering my subscription.

MontysMinions · 03/08/2021 08:12

I've had the same experience as PP with packaging issues.

I'm not completely anti Nestle but it has also altered my opinion of them since nestle bought a majority stake. The packaging going to shit was the final nail in the coffin so I cancelled my subscription a couple of months ago.

GiantToadstool · 03/08/2021 08:18

They are really expensive. We've done gousto on a deal and thought it vrilliant but finished whent he deal ended. Mindful chef is even more so out of our bracket. Im glad its good though I often get their adverts and wonder! It looks fab.

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/08/2021 08:20

We used them happily until the sold out to Nestle. Great food though.

I get a vegan box every week. Love it.

I have had very few problems with them, but occasionally the little tubs the artichokes etc.. come in leak in transit.

I'm vegetarian (not vegan) so I occasionally get a box of Hello Fresh or Guosto because I want something cheezy with gluten! I still prefer MC though.

Foxhasbigsocks · 03/08/2021 20:59

I had no idea about nestle and that really puts me off MindfulChef Hmm

I’m also annoyed by the occasional packaging issues. Hasn’t been too bad but still. Admittedly there were SO many more missing ingredients when we had gusto.

I am irritated by the lack of dairy. Would like dairy and gluten in the main boxes and then an option to be dairy / GF

Oh boo was excited to see a thread about this as have been considering and v fucked off about nestle.

Any other box recommendations that aren’t HelloFresh or Gousto?

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/08/2021 21:03

Me too @Foxhasbigsocks one of the reasons I picked them was to shop more ethically. Great food though.

Foxhasbigsocks · 03/08/2021 22:30

I can’t go back to Gousto though because they do battery chicken which I don’t want to buy
