Tell me about your fridge, freezer or store cupboard surfing plates

You know, when you are doing the decent thing by eating up random stuff that needs eating rather than throwing it out. You can end up with quite an odd combination, especially if you are just providing for yourself rather than the whole family.

Tonight I had some cold pasta & pesto. Fresh pesto needed using and I don't actually like hot pasta pesto.

Plus some bottled grilled red and yellow peppers, a single slice of proscuttio (to finish the pack), 2 mini scotch eggs (nearing sell-by), a slice of cooked turkey (just cost I wanted some more meat), 3 mozarella pearls with some sundried tomatoes, 3 pickled small beetroot, a dollop of tangy piccallilli and a dollop of tzatziki.

It was bloody lovely! I am guilty of buying a lot of picnic type food in the heat as I just don't want to cook.

But it wouldn't win any prizes on Masterchef.

Have you had anything random lately?

All the time. We call it 'bits and bobs'. It's a meal using up whatever needs using up. From the fridge. Or the freezer. Or both.

I sell it to my kids as something interesting and exciting and now all my friends do it to their kids too. I've been doing it for donkeys years.
A bit of left over spag Bol, with a pork pie, a sausage roll, some broccoli that needs using, and some left over mash.

Silly example, but you get the idea.

It's known as the 'plate of stuff in our house. The other day we had southern fried fish burgers with iceberg lettuce, gherkins, 2 onion rings and leftover cold curried rice.
