Random McDonald's question

So whenever we order at McDonald's, we always customise our orders! But it's getting to the point where it's literally too much!!! One wants no ketchup, extra onion, one has extra lettuce no mustard, I feel like we never order normally and that our local McDonald's must hate us! So anyways do you always personalise your orders or just take what's on the menu? What's your weirdest/tastiest combo from McDonald's? Just thought id have a little fun post! Need ideas for our next order hahaha

I usually have mine as it comes but my kids always want to add/remove things. I'm sure the staff don't mind, at least I hope so!

Hellocatshome · 18/07/2021 21:59

I always personalise mine, I may as well have it exactly how I want it. My DS ordered via the app which kept glitching and ended up with a bun with just lettuce and pickles in Hmm

MirandaMarple · 19/07/2021 07:51

It would never occur to me to customise it.

PepsiMax91 · 19/07/2021 07:59

Always customise ours too.

My partner likes to get a chicken mayo, no bun, no burger, no lettuce, no sauce - add gherkins.

Gets a box if gherkins!

The only thing I don't customise is I'm trying a new burger.

lurker101 · 19/07/2021 08:03

I always customise. My favourite was a double cheeseburger, only cheese and with extra cheese, and then add lettuce and Big Mac sauce, but they won’t do it anymore in lots of stores. Think it was to do with the cost of the double cheeseburger compared to Big Mac, but I would have been happy to pay Big Mac prices but to have double cheeseburger

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 19/07/2021 08:04

We always customise, you have to get rid of the gherkin somehow!

kurtney · 19/07/2021 08:07

I don't customise but I once got the wrong order, which I assume was for someone else and it was just a Big Mac but with nothing on it except the burger and bread.

I wouldn't worry about it. If they don't want to do it, they shouldn't offer it.

If you would have been happy to pay Big Mac prices why did you customise a double cheeseburger into a Big Mac?

lurker101 · 19/07/2021 08:12

@iwilldoitsoon I prefer the unseeded bun that comes with double cheeseburger and prefer the burgers “touching” rather than a layer of bun in between, and it was easier to customise double cheeseburger to get what I wanted than to explain the saga about the bread 😂

Oh that makes sense! I find McDonald's a whole nightmare now. Our store has only one till which is always queued so it's easier to order in the screen but the lack of human makes it difficult if I want anything the machine can't understand Grin

redtshirt50 · 19/07/2021 08:15

I think customising has become a lot more common now it's so easy on the app, before it wouldn't have crossed most peoples mind.

My DP gets everything plain so he always customises.

Once I was craving pickels so asked for extra and for all the pickles to be put on the side and they did it for me haha

I also ordered extra lettuce once and there was so much extra lettuce I regretted ordering it! It wasn't even in the burger, it was just bunged into the box like an afterthought.

Extra onions sounds nice I might try that next time.

But these are one offs and I don't normally customize just because I like the burger as it comes. I always ask for extra curry or sweet or sour sauce.

scrappydappydoo · 19/07/2021 08:26

I always customise - mostly to get rid of the cheese - I hate that mcds puts cheese on everything. But I also add more salad to give the illusion of healthiness…

LividLaVidaLoca · 19/07/2021 08:30

I’m gluten free so unfortunately too familiar with the “remove bun” option.

This involves having your meat with a sad blob of sauce and sprinkle of lettuce in a tray with a plastic knife and fork.

BertieBotts · 19/07/2021 08:34

I don't eat cheese so I have to customise.

It's a nice way to make sure you don't get the old dried out burger that's been sat there the max 20 minutes. Or longer if your staff are a bit crap.

There are no burgers sitting made up for 20 mins. You will be given the same burger without cheese as you would with, they sit in hot trays and when you order someone makes it up.
Twinkie01 · 19/07/2021 08:47

If you customise, your burger is actually made on the next run of that burger being made rather than taken from the generic ones which sit in the food shoots. So it is fresher.

Filet of fish with added lettuce is amazing.

BertieBotts · 19/07/2021 08:55

They definitely pre-make the popular burgers at busy times, as it speeds things up. I've seen them take the already made one to put in the bag. If they aren't busy then yes they will make it fresh regardless.

DaniellaDavis · 19/07/2021 09:01

Order the food as standard and let them remove the stuff themselves. It's what we always have done in our family for generations!

5zeds · 19/07/2021 09:06

Can you swap out items in a happy meal? Eg could you swap the burger/nuggets for chips?

Bagelsandbrie · 19/07/2021 09:19

I only customise my fillet of fish as I like extra pickles Grin

ahola · 19/07/2021 09:21

Why is this under "food"?

It's been years since I've actually been into a McDonald's thanks to drive through and online ordering but, I've 100% seen made up burgers in boxes ready to grab and bag ?
Idk if that's not the case anymore but I've absolutely seen it

PepsiMax91 · 19/07/2021 09:32

@iwilldoitsoon sorry that was meant for you

They are made up to order, put down the new style 'hot plate' and bagged into the specific order. There are not holding hot plates anymore.

I can highly recommend a "cheat" big mac.Double cheese burger with no ketchup or mustard but with Big Mac sauce.Only a couple of quid.
