i made home made tomato soup today for the first time and added a red pepper although this was optional-however its made it taste a bit bitter not sure the little one will approve he needs to taste a bit sweeter any suggestions, more tomato puree or ketchup?

A half a teaspoon of sugar (taste after this and add a bit more if necessary)

Sugar is often added to recipes that feature lots of tomato.

I often add a pinch of sugar to tomato-based sauces -it takes away that tartness

I tend to put a generous squirt of ketchup in anything with a tomato-based sauce - probably not much different from adding a bit of sugar, as ketchup is quite sweet anyway.
