I've just seen you can make jacket potatoes in a slow cooker! I had no idea, mine's on top of the cupboard after everything I made tasted like stew Confused

Please let me know of any other weird and wonderful stuff you can make?

Hot chocolate.
Cakes.

Try Miss South's Slow Cooked - some nice ideas in there. Cornbread is good, she also has a recipe for delicious pomegranate and fig relish, and her cherry bakewell pudding is great. Brownies and falafel are also possibilities. Though if you really want to expand possibilities, you need an instant pot...

You can make almost anything in the slow cooker! It's great for soup, especially homemade tomato

I make mulled wine in there every Christmas - it keeps the wine got for a long time without boiling it, and the lid means that all the alcohol doesn't evaporate!

A cooked breakfast! I’ve never done it, as I can’t see the point but people do, at least they do in the Facebook group I’m in!

Cooked breakfast is gorgeous and minimises the amount of washing up. Plus it smells much better.

The jacket potatoes come out steamed rather than baked - no crispy skin.

SnowdaySewday · 02/07/2021 19:40

Rice pudding
Porridge

Baypony · 02/07/2021 20:13

chocolate fudge. Porridge. Not weird at all but slow cooker chilli with actual beef (shin) not mince, is just the best.

FutureDays · 02/07/2021 20:17

I do a homemade donner kebab style thing in mine, butter chicken, chilli, a kinda paella thing, I’m in a fb group that I get some good recipes from although the humour isn’t to everyone’s tastes

nicknamehelp · 02/07/2021 20:27

a whole chicken always moist

Lasagne!

By the time you cook the mince, tomato, herbs, carrots/celery etc on the stove top to make the sauce, then also the bechamel, it didn't save any time. The only benefit would be if you didn't have an oven. I found that the edges came out crispy though, but the top didn't brown.

Not tried either but really want to: caramelised nuts and have also heard you can cook loads of hot dog sausages which would be good for a party. I’ve cooked cakes and rice pudding in mine.

Mulled wine at Christmas here.

Notthatkeen · 04/07/2021 20:54

Can anyone please direct me to a good recipe they have used for the slow cooker cooked breakfast, I am intrigued.

Persipan · 04/07/2021 21:04

I've made bread in mine - it worked especially well when I made a sort of cheese muffin bread. Also, I cook the Christmas pudding in it every year - I just stir up, stick the pudding basin inside on an upturned saucer or whatever, and fill around it with hot water, and then leave it in there all day.

Bargebill19 · 04/07/2021 21:20

For cooked breakfast wrap bacon around sausages and stand in end around the side of the dish. Put beans into a ramekin same for mushrooms and eggs. I put a knob of butter on my mushrooms. Place ramekins in dish. Fill in gaps with hash browns.
Tinned toms can be put in a ramekin if desired (yuck!)
Add toast via your toaster or grill as desired.
Job done.

Bargebill19 · 04/07/2021 21:20

We stick the slow cooker on just before we go to bed.

Notthatkeen · 05/07/2021 20:15
