Simple summer supper 'party' ideas

We have friends coming over in two week and it's the first time since lockdown that I have invited people over for supper.

I really don't want to serve up a BBQ.

What lovely not too tricky to make foods would you serve up for a supper for 9 (4 adults and 5 kids)? They're all meat eaters but happy to go veggie too.

How about jacket potato's with a selection of fillings? The only work required is popping them in the oven and then a few different options in bowls for fillings then people can please themselves, I always do this and make my own coleslaw as it looks like you've made a bit of an effort when in reality not much prep required at all! Smile

A killer potato salad, a simple pasta salad and then 'picky bits' such as cheeses, holoumi chorizo, olives, etc. I love that sort of food option. Maybe pulled pork if enough would eat it or the vegan alternative...

Eton Mess for pudding.

I’d do a side of roast salmon, pesto pasta salad, lemony couscous salad with flaked almonds, mozzarella pearls and cherry tomatoes, green salad and chargrilled lemon garlic chicken fillets

Homemade pizzas?
Charcuterie board - cold meats, cheeses, crackers, olives, sundried tomatoes, nice crusty baguettes.
Home made quiches and salad
Home made Nando’s- piri piri roast chicken, corn on the cobs, spicy rice salad or couscous salad, mixed green salad, grilled halloumi etc

Pop a chilli in the slow cooker and serve with taco boats or similar.

BBQ but not sausage and burgers.

Butterflied lamb / pulled pork / brisket / shawarma or even fish, a while salmon.

Try bake, I do lots of different ones with chicken etc, just roughly chop all the veg, throw in a tray with herbs etc and leave to cook

I like the pulled pork idea. Or maybe a chicken Caesar salad with charcuterie?

Any fail save recommendations for the kids' meal?

I'm not very experienced in dinner parties. Normally, friends come over and we have a BBQ in the summer.

Fail safe for the kids would be:
Pizza
Hot dogs
Chicken burgers
Tuna pasta bake
Macaroni cheese

If you want something more original, my dc enjoy:
Pesto chicken www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/creamy-pesto-chicken-roasted-tomatoes with slices of crusty bread or new potatoes
Fish finger tacos realfood.tesco.com/recipes/fish-finger-tacos.html
Sausage ragu www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/sausage-ragu
