I've just been out watering the garden and realised im going to have a glut of Gooseberries - I've no idea what to do with them. I normally hide a few in Crumble but this isn't going to get me out of my glut this year...

Hit me up with your favourite Gooseberry recipes.

Gooseberry Fool!

(So easy a fool can make it)

1/2 pint of custard, 1//2 pint of single cream, 1lb stewed gooseberries (with as much sugar as you like)

Blend together and put in fridge to cool.

I love gooseberries!

Gooseberry crumble cake:

Gooseberry hot sauce:

Gooseberry icecream:

And my favourite - caramelised gooseberries and sausage rolls. Use this recipe but swap the apples for gooseberries:

I’ve never tried this but it looks good:

Last year I had a glut of gooseberries I made rhubarb and gooseberry jam, strawberry and gooseberry jam both nice, gooseberry gin which is lovely. I froze some and recently made some gooseberry chutney which I'm waiting to try

I'm anticipating a glut this year as well!

Karcheer · 09/06/2021 19:00

@Thecatisboss i've been having Rhubarb for breakfast every morning so I won't have any left by the end of the month and I need to leave it be then.

I was thinking Chutney and Jam's although this won't help with me trying to reduce my bread addiction!

@MadMadMadamMim I'll definitely give that a go!

@WotgunShedding AH brilliant thank you!

To add to the list of jams, gooseberry and elderflower is delicious too. Ours get made into this and fools.

I'm hoping we gets lots this year! Last year - for the first time ever - our gooseberry bush was hanging with fruit. I thought to myself, Oh, I'll pick that at the weekend...

Only to find it was absolutely empty then. I assume the birds had eaten it all?

I followed this recipe for gin which I can recommend
