Getting juice out of limes

Has anyone a tip for easily juicing fresh limes, please? I spent about 20 minutes yesterday juicing four limes (sigh), only filled 8 sections of an ice-cube tray. Don't care if the juice has 'bits'. Any suggestions welcome, TIA Flowers

Few seconds in the microwave does the trick!

I cut it in half then stab it several times with a fork, before using a spoon to scoop the juice out. I haven't tried the microwave - will do that next time.

Yes, microwave and then give them a good 'roll' on the work surface before you cut them open for juicing (it helps break up the inside a little).

Also invest in a decent manual juicer (and apply some elbow grease!) to really help extract all the available juice.

Thanks, how long and what power setting in the microwave, please, I can just imagine exploding the limes by accident ! 🍋💥👿

Microwaves vary, and it will also depend on the size of the fruit. Just do it for short bursts at a time and feel it to check. You only want to warm it through to soften it up. you don't want it too hot to hod or you won't be able to squeeze it.

*hot

I don't think I've ever varied the power on my microwave Blush anyway, I do 20 secs first then 10 more as needed.

The rolling in the bench works well to get more juice out of any citrus

Hangingbasket2568 · 11/06/2021 08:07

Second the rolling, cut into quarters and squeeze juice out.

WeAreTheHeroes · 11/06/2021 08:09

If you're juicing them to freeze the juice, grate the zest off first. You can freeze that too - lots of flavour in the zest.

Get a Mexican elbow shaped for limes. It will rinse every last drop of juice out of those uncooperative suckers

HeartShapedBalloon · 11/06/2021 11:18

I've got one of these. Takes a few seconds!

I second the Mexican Elbow

I find taking lemons and limes out of the fridge at least an hour before I need to use them gets much more juice out than if I use them straight from the fridge. Like microwaving them (which I do if I forget)

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies Flowers

Have you tried a hand held lime squeezer?
