We’ve bought a Weber bbq and put it together this evening, the weather is looking good for the weekend so we’re planning to fire it up. What are your suggestions for yummy things to cook?
Excited and nervous in equal measure!

Jamie’s pork ribs, absolutely perfect.

Any chicken, precook in oven, then finish in BBQ.

These Honey, Lime and Siracha Chicken Skewers are good. I tried them once and now we have them on the BBQ regularly as everyone keeps asking for them.

Halloumi and pepper skewers.

Paddingtonsmarmlade · 29/05/2021 07:46

Chicken skewers marinated (honey mustard and oil or lemon honey and oil are our current favourites)

Don't forget to buy a thermometer so that you know stuff is cooked without burning it.

I found the YouTube videos from Haynes garden world helpful to get started with my Weber.

Great ideas so far! Today will be Jamie’s pork ribs, halloumi and red pepper skewers, chicken, red pepper and courgette skewers, hot dogs for the kids and some salad greens.

Tomorrow will be spatchcock chicken with baby spuds and corn on the cob. I’m going to wrap some garlic bulbs in foil too so we’ll see how they turn out.

Any other suggestions?

For dessert realfood.tesco.com/step-by-step/how-to-barbecue-a-whole-pineapple.html

We tried bananas and chocolate wrapped in foil and it was a 50/50 success.

We literally are doing the same.
We just love burgers and sausages Blush
But I often make chicken skewers in sweet chilli or satay sauce so I might try them.
Corn on the cob. Jacket potato wrapped in tin foil (reheated)

Tuna steaks are delicious on the bbq, I like to marinate in soy, ginger, garlic, chilli, honey.

We like to get chicken drumsticks, bake them in a Maggi BBQ "cook in the bag" and then finish them on the BBQ to char the skin.

@AtleastitsnotMonday think I'm coming around to yours. They sound delicious 😋

Oh do! The weather’s gorgeous on the sunny south coast, stoking up the bbq again, chicken skewers with a sticky mango glaze, barbecued garlic flat breads, sweet potato salad, a green salad, sliced tomatoes from the farmers market with lots of balsamic, rock salt and black pepper and a sweetcorn, pineapple and red pepper salsa!

Don’t go crazy with expensive meats. Chicken thighs are cheap and easy, so are chicken wings. You won’t have time to slow cook anything today but pork shoulder is inexpensive and pork shoulder always goes down well. Bigger Sainsbury’s are carrying low and slow stuff for bbqs this year like ribs, pork for pulled pork and brisket which is already rubbed and comes with a sauce. The products were developed with a big Facebook bbq group so come with the man seal of approval.
