If you were going to a festival with a 9yo and a 13yo, what would you take for a picnic?

I’d take a French stick, a few nice cheeses, chutney, maybe some cocktail sausages or sausage rolls, cheese straws, crudités and a dip, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions and cocktail gherkins, nice crisps
Fresh juice, sparkling water, strawberries and grapes, flapjack.

Nothing that needs laying out, cutlery, plates, glasses etc. Ideally that can be eaten standing up and sheltering under an umbrella and that isn't easily ruined by the bag getting wet. And minimal packaging so you aren't carting too much around.
So: sandwiches (whatever everyones most favoured filling is so if a bit warm/squashed they are still happy to eat them), sausage rolls/cooked sausages, crisps, mini cheddar type savoury biscuits in packets, sweet biscuits in small packets (iced gems, party rings), mini brownies and or flapjack squares (everything in ziplock bags as well as its packaging to keep it divided up and easily fished out of bag). A super concentrate squash like Squashums so you can refill everyones water bottles from taps and make it less like warm water. If really enthusiastic I take a food flask filled with ice sticks to go in water bottles

I’d stick to finger food personally
Sausage rolls
Falafel and hummus wraps
Nice crisps
Fruit
Something sweet/cakey

These are great suggestions, thanks! We missed the year before last and I honestly can't remember what we took the year before that. Now I'm just crossing my fingers that it's on. It'll be impossible to restrict numbers as it's free and on a village green. I'm keeping my eye on their Facebook page.

Thanks again everyone for the great suggestions!
