Hi, title says it all. I have cooked far too much rice and chilli con carne. Can I store it and if so how and for how long..

It's a bit too hot for me but dd loves it and has wolfed it down like a maniac!

Thanks

Freeze the chilli? in cling film? can I cook it from frozen after or will it need to be defrosted then microwaved?

Will I have to throw the rice or can I freeze that too?

blimey I really feel like I shgould know all this stuff.

i'd chuck the rice and freeze the chilli

though the chill'd keep for a couple of days in the fridge (tends to be better the next day!)

tassisssss · 17/11/2007 17:32

I'd freeze it in an old marg tub or bag

better to defrost then micro/pop in pan, but I do frequently go from freezer to microwave and no ill effects so far!

put it in a storage box with a lid if poss or put clingfilm on top and freeze it and once you want to have it on the day...defrost it and yes u can freeze the rice too and defrost that too once you want to eat it

You can reheat rice - just check this to make sure you're doing it safely. And yes, freeze the chilli.

wow...didnt know that you cud get food posioning from rice!! as its the way you store the rice

Ok I will give some to dd for her lunch tomorrow and freeze the rest in tupperware.

Then will get out in the morning to defrost for tea when I need it!

Thank you very much
