Homemade baked beans

I’ve looked online and there are loads of recipes but does anyone have a tried and tested one? Making for DS11 who used to be very fussy but is now willing to try slightly different things

It's a tremendous amount of time. Do you mean something like Boston beans, with fatty pork, molasses and onion?

Or something approximating Heinz beans?

I was thinking more of a healthier version of heinz
