I hate using filter machine as can't make small amount very well .

Cafetiere is okayish but not fab

Moka italian stove top thingy, well mine is a four cup one and I cannot seem to get the strength or amount just right.

Do I need to buy a single cup one,can I use 4cup one but use less coffee?

One cup filter dripper thing from Whittards.

Meridian · 17/11/2007 11:43

lavazza italian coffee

gaggia espresso machine

loving husband to steam the milk for my latte

bliss......

Blu · 17/11/2007 11:48

Cafitiere, good Columbian beans, 6 scoops in an 8 cup cafitiere.

Cafitiere coffee must be made strong, and with good flavoursome beans, not some generic blend.

Nightynight · 17/11/2007 12:24

The coffee machine at work makes it. Does a good job, too.

LedodgyDickinson · 17/11/2007 12:36

It's threads like this that sometimes make me feel alien to mn. I just take a spoon get coffee out of jar put in mug add milk then add boiling water straight from the kettle. To be fair i'm more of a tea drinker but even then it's PG or Yorkshire....

purpleturtle · 17/11/2007 12:43

We set the machine on a timer for the morning so that by 6.00am there's a whole pot of coffee waiting. Dh has a cup before he goes out, and the rest is mine, all mine .

CodDickinson · 17/11/2007 12:50

PavlovtheCat · 17/11/2007 12:55

Like Jura - I go out to the local Republica and ask for latte to go...! And after 10, get one free!
(not starbucks tho...yuck)

brimfull · 17/11/2007 17:45

ledodgy- I used to drink instant but I'm afraid I am fussy about my coffee now.

Cafetiere and stovetop not poncy imo.

HUge gaggia machine is poncetastic

Ledodgy - you put the milk in before the boiling water? Doesn't that stop the granules dissolving properly?

tut tut - alien indeed

Cafetiere, small scoop of coffee (Expresso, strength 5) half fill it. Nice big mug, fill one third with semiskimmed and and a dash of caramel syrup, then nuke for 110s. Froth up with my fabulous IKEA coffee whizzer and top up with coffee

or...

5 spoonfuls of caramel/cappuchino powder stuff from Lidl, add water, grimace and be irked for being lazy.

pollywollybauble · 18/11/2007 00:27

open sachet of nescafe instant cappuccino, pour on water, stir, drink (froth first). sorted!

brimfull · 18/11/2007 00:29

instant is the pits

I'm sorry if that makes me a coffee ponce

BUT IT IS TRUE

pollywollybauble · 18/11/2007 00:35

ah...but if you don't have the real stuff for long enough, it becomes the new (less phaff) norm...i really look forward to mine now...

LedodgyDickinson · 18/11/2007 09:27

lol blu no it needs a good stir but it makes it nicer imo. I started doing it after a school work placement landed me in an old peoples home and that's how we had to make their coffee. I hated the placement though.I wanted museum work but they could only have me for one out of the two weeks.

Bailey's instead of milk in coffee is lovely too.

LedodgyDickinson · 18/11/2007 09:29

I should also point out that altough I like posh filter coffee drinking it once landed me in hospital with a caffeine overdose so I tend to avoid it now.

QuintessentialShadow · 18/11/2007 09:34

Oh, you lot make some lovely coffee.

I used to get my coffee freshly from Whittards. But now, due to my financial constraints I buy the cheapest bag from either Asda or Tesco, for less than a pound. I sometimes jazz it up by adding either some cinnamon or cardamom before I turn on the switch of my filter coffee machine.

hoxtonchick · 18/11/2007 09:40

gaggia baby espresso maker, lavazza coffee. we generally drink americanos from it. delish (and i freely admit to being a coffee ponce).

SoupDragon · 18/11/2007 09:45

What makes instant cappuccino froth?? That worries me.

Instant coffee is fine IMO (I flit between Douwe Egberts and a Fair Trade one, I@m not talking Nescafe...). Obviously proper stuff form beans is best though.

Sputnik · 18/11/2007 11:28

With the stovetop things you have to put exactly the amount needed to fill the round bit or it won't come out at the right pressure. So, either make 4 cups and throw the excess away (or risk caffeine poisoning),or get a single cup one.
