Oh help, 6 people for lunch and no idea what to cook!

This is a challenge. We are having 6 people for lunch on Saturday and I need something fairly easy to prepare. However, one of the group is a vegetarian, the other has a very serious allergy to onion and anything onion related and one other dislikes seafood.

My one year old, on the other hand, will eat anything in sight.

What to do? Any ideas?

Big veggie lasagne with salad and garlic bread?

MorocconOil · 14/11/2007 16:48

Spaghetti Carbonara with a nice green salad and garlic bread.

Garlic bread would seem to be the way forward!

Am liking these ideas very much.

Panic averted.

Or a big pot of veggie soup and some lovely crusty bread?

How about a really thick hearty minestrone soup served with garlic bread and salad.

is there such a thing as a vegetarian carbonara?

what about pasta with roasted veg?
halve 2 tomatoes per person and put with cut sides upwards in ovenproof dish. cut carrots into 2cm chunks and put in too. Cut red peppers into large chunks and put in too (if not too close to onions? my brother is allergic to onions and can eat peppers - also leeks?) drizzle with oil and bake at 180 or so for 55 minutes;

after the tomatoes have been in for 30 mins, dice 1 aubergine for every 4 people and put on separate baking tray, with scatter of pitted, halved black olives. Drizzle with oil and mix round to coat, then put in oven too.

after the tomatoes have been in for 55 minutes, start the pasta off. tip aubergine and olives into tomato dish and mix all together gently. Pour over 1 pkt passata per 4 people and mix together again. Turn off oven but leave dish inside oven with door shut to kind of coagulate. Serve with grated parmesan.

Pudding - affogato - each person gets a glass with 2 scoops of decent vanilla ice cream and a singls shot of espresso poured over the top.

I actually like it with instant, but that's just my totally degraded palate [cares about bulk calories not flavour emoticon].

Or Eve's pudding? Slice cooking apples and put in dish with dash of water. Make sponge cake mixture. Spread cake mixture over top of apples and bake for 15 mins or so.

NB i am not suggesting espresso for the one-year-old!

Sorry, forgot about the ham

You can make a vegetarian carbonara by subbing nicely cooked and seasoned mushrooms for the meat bit.
