Smell of off lamb

Cooking some lamb steaks for tea , noticed slight smell when opening but as vacuum packed assumed it was that put in the pan to cook and smells worse like vinegar?
Can i safely assume these are off , i have taken them off the heat now
Use by is tomorrow

Well binned and night got worse as knocked bin over and lamb juice spilt on shoes so had to wipe floor and shoes as well
Knew I should of ordered a take away
Kitchen smelt for ages as well

You did the right thing - if your senses are telling you something is wrong with food, listen to them.

Hope your shoes recovered?!

Put them in the washing machine and look ok now
