So given the chilly weather, what would you feed a group of 6 with for outdoor dining? No vegetarians, no allergies. Three foodie couples all 55-60 ish. Not that that matters... Help and ideas very much appreciated!!

Watching with interest. I have friends coming to my garden on Saturday and I don’t want to bbq. I was thinking of Moroccan lamb casserole and cous cous. Or pizza!

Jacket potato and chilli? Not very foodie, but warm.

How about slow cooked meat like pulled pork? Do various salads and flatbreads etc, ideally homemade everything!

MaryIsA · 16/04/2021 06:38

I’d do butterflied leg of lamb in pita bread hot with salads. Like a posh kebab. Or pulled pork.

We’ve got a tripod stand with cooking rack that goes over our fire pit and you can either bbq on it or put a pan on it we love cooking a paella over it! Gives off lots more warmth than bbq ! 🔥

I'd go with something that can be eaten in bowls as likely to stay warmer. Paella could be good if you're able to make it (I'm not).

A tagine?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 16/04/2021 16:29

Bowls of tagine, served with toasted flatbreads
Venison sausage hot dogs with caramelised onions
Bowls of Tuscan bean stew and ciabatta

@Donteatpurplebroccoli that sounds wonderful

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 16/04/2021 22:31

Great ideas! These will keep me going till it's warmer! I took our tripod stand to the recycling centre yesterday as it was getting a bit unsafe. Will look out for another one.

Chilli tomorrow for group A then pulled pork for group B on Sunday!! There's a really simple Emma Freud BBC recipe I use. Will keep all the other ideas in mind for the next few months. Thanks!

I’ve just made a Tuscan bean stew but added some Toulouse sausage. Sun is shining so fingers crossed we all have a good evening

Donteatpurplebroccoli · 18/04/2021 07:03

Hope the chilli went down well op! The weather (in my area of uk!) was lovely yesterday ! Hope everyone enjoyed! @OverByYer Tuscan bean stew sounds delicious!

Solasum · 18/04/2021 07:08

I precooked nice butcher’s sausages and boiled baby new potatoes, bunged on lots of butter and salt and mint then left in the still warm oven until needed and served with asparagus, feta and cherry tomato salad www.myrecipes.com/recipe/cherry-tomato-asparagus-salad using feta instead if gorgonzola. It felt picnic like as all that was needed was to bring it outside, and went down very well

It turned out to be really warm and sunny here until 7pm, typical!
