I want celery salt, without the salt! I believe its made from dried celery seeds, but where can I buy them, other than kg packs online?

They used to sell this at an organic food shop local to me (probably still do!). I think you will need to shop around a bit at independent places if you can't find it in any of the supermarkets

Celery leaves or seeds?

picklemewalnuts · 08/04/2021 21:24

Just dehydrate the celery in an air fryer if you don't have a dehydrator. Then blend it.

125g online any better?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 08/04/2021 21:31

Can't you just buy celery seed from the supermarket spice shelf? I certainly have done.

Thanks everyone. I believe celery salt is made with ground celery seeds apparently.

@picklemewalnuts- I don't have an air fryer or a dehydrator, hence wondered if there was somewhere to buy it, rather than a DIY of hours dehydrating myself in a low oven option.

@DancesWithDaffodils- Perfect, thankyou. I actually saw that link, and my brain read it at 1.25kg, rather than grams!!! Smile

@LadyMonicaBaddingham- I have looked at the spice section of Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda, Lidl, Aldi and Co-op. All I could find was celery salt. Which supermarket did you buy plain celery seed from?

Waitrose sell it.
So do some "health food" shops.

Elouera · 09/04/2021 11:54

@Georgyporky- thank you.

Well it's been educational for me. I often dehydrate stuff, partly for dog treats and partly if I've over bought and don't want to waste something.

I thought celery salt was dehydrated celery with salt. It seems it can be that, or just the leaves, or the seeds. Now I want to get some seeds and see what they are like!
