Make my sliced loaf lovely

I'm on a food shopping self ban right now. I'm going to make a cod and chorizo stew tomorrow night and normally I'd nip to the supermarket to get a baguette to have with it --plus a host of other stuff hence the self ban.

I do have a standard white sliced loaf that needs using. What can I do to make it a little nicer/different?

Thanks Smile

Have you got flour, yeast and olive oil? Because you could make a fantastic ciabatta which would go beautifully with your dish.

I know that doesn’t answer the question, exactly, but still... Smile

Otherwise I’d probably make garlic bread with the sliced white or something akin to bruschetta.

If you don’t want the loaf to go to waste you can freeze it.

Croutons to sit ontop of the stew?
Or a garlicky herby crumb to sprinkle ontop?

Or yes, make some quick carbs stuff - flatbreads (Greek yoghurt, SR flour and baking powder, dry fried), or some savoury scones to have like a cobbler, or some dumplings (can be made with butter if no suet).

Thanks. I bake bread quite a lot but I'm trying to have a "use up" couple of weeks!

Garlic bread may work, or maybe croutons?

Make breadcrumbs and toast/fry/bake with lemon zest, herbs, parmesan to sprinkle on top.

laughoutquiet · 08/04/2021 21:45

@MirandaMarple nice!

@laughoutquiet what did you end up doing with it and was it good?

laughoutquiet · 11/04/2021 17:56

@Ninkanink the whole meal was a huge success (always satisfying!) I did Parmesan croutons on the topSmile.

Thank you! I’m definitely putting it on the menu this coming week or next.
