What are you serving in the garden this weekend?

PILs are coming over for lunch at the weekend and I am devoid of inspiration, it's so long since I hosted! We went to them last week and they did quiche and jacket potatoes so would prefer something different. No dietary requirements other than 4yo and 8yo who prefer plain food but will eat extra bread if necessary! I should say it'll be plates on laps rather than sit down meal as we don't have a large enough table to seat all of us.

Would love to hear what others in the same position are planning on serving this weekend!

Bird food only. Snow forecast so I have no intention of eating anything outside 😉

You could do hot "bowl food" - Thai curry, risotto, Etc? Something you can just eat with a fork but will be warming?

Curry with home made naan. Thought it might be warming!

Something like pulled pork in rolls with coleslaw, wedges etc?

I’m doing this vegetable pilaf www.tilda.com/eat-well/recipes/moroccan-vegetable-pilaf/ with falafel for the vegans and lamb meatballs for the meat eaters.
This sausage plait also works well for those sort of occasions realfood.tesco.com/recipes/sausage-plait-with-caramelised-onions.html

I’d go for something easy to eat with just a fork. Maybe a Moroccan chicken tagine with cous cous. Warming, majority prepped in advance and tasty.
If the kids wouldn’t go for that maybe a pasta dish, a big macaroni cheese, jazz it up a bit with a bacon crumb on top.
Or a pasta bake with chicken, bacon and broccoli
Fish pie?
Or a sausage casserole.

Hmm I have friends coming this Saturday evening. Can’t be arsed bbqing. Husband saying pizza but I think lamb tagine a good idea
