Lasagne advice please!

The recipe calls for fresh lasagne sheets, but I only have dried. There aren't any cooking instructions on the packet. How long do i need to boil them for to get them the right consistency before adding to the dish? Thanks!

I never boil them I just use them how they are.

Some chefs soak them before using them in boiling water. They do tend to stick together if you do that so it can be a bit tricky. i just use them dry but make sure my bolognese sauce has enough liquid for the pasta sheets to absorb without making the dish too stodgy and dry.

You dont always need to cook in advance. Maybe need extra liquid in your sauce though if its quite thick

You don’t need to cook the dried sheets before cooking but soaking them individually in hot water makes them more flexible and easy to manage.

I just put them in dried.

Put them in dried as they are. I made lasagne today but used thinly sliced courgette instead of pasta - oh the joys of a low carb diet...! Although it was actually rather nice!

DramaAlpaca · 04/04/2021 18:22

Just use them dried. I always do.

TinaYouFatLard · 04/04/2021 18:23

Agree, just bung them in dry.

@fairydustandpixies Ocado sell a dried yellow lentil lasagne which I think is okay on low carb, it’s really good. Also Sainsbury’s used to do big slices of butternut squash lasagne in the fresh aisle.

I usually part cook them first, approx 8 min boil.

ElderMillennial · 04/04/2021 18:48

You can use them dried but you will probably need to allow longer for your lasagne to cook as they take longer

I never boil them. I use a more watery sauce and the dry sheets soak it up. Takes about 35 mins in a medium oven to bake a lasagna in a 9x13 pan.
