Anyone with lo around 15mo.....what do they eat day to day?

I've got quite a fussy 15mo dd, she loves new potatoes, carrots, peas, sweetcorn, fishfingers and scrammbled egg but apart from that everything else seems like a struggle (unless its milky way stars!) She will eat pasta sometimes, although never if its got any sauce on it and will sometimes nibble a bit of plain chicken, sausage and small amounts of bananna.

Thing is I can give her the foods that she likes and she'll eat plenty but find it hard to give her a varied diet that she will eat lots of, enough say to fill her up. I worry that she's not eaten enough and I can't just give her the same thing day in day out.

What I'm wondering is what other children her age are eating? I should mention that when she was small she used to just eat mushy jarred baby food and would refuse anything else so its taken ages just to get to this stage!! Thanks.

DD is 15 months. Unlike your DD she loves pasta with sauce. Nothing beats it and she will eat ten times more of that than anything else. She can honestly eat more pasta than me and I have a good appetite.

I think they all have their favourites and will eat more when given what they like. I plug on offering other stuff but make sure one meal a day is a favourtie.

Today she had
A banana and some raisen wheats which had been left to soak up a little milk.

A huge plate of pasta twirls with tuna and tomato sauce.

Half a pot of M&S guacomole on rice cakes (this she loves, loves, loves)

Half a baked salmon steak with peas and new potatoes.

Some blueberries.

Hmm...guacomle thats a good idea, me and dh dont like it so we dont have it in the house but I might get some and see if she likes it, would be a good snack, she will eat rice cakes so maybe with something to dunk it in...

i think that you need to offer a variety of foods with different textures and flavours

houmous is great as well and finger foods at this age are brill

do you all eat together - eating is a social activity and perhaps your LO will copy what you do ...

Have you tried hummous? DD quite likes that too. Guacomole, hummous and rice cakes get me through most lunch times when we are out and about.

Some days my 14 month old DD eats practically nothing (well very little) and other days she eat a lot !!!

But as we are still nursing, I'm happy for her to go with the flow. I did read any article by Dr Sears that said parents should look at a balance diet over a week rather than a day.

Dd is 18 months. She just eats whatever dp and I eat and (more or less) has done since she was about 12 months. Have you tried giving her what you eat, when you eat it?

BrightShinySun · 10/11/2007 17:04

We do generally eat together unless dh is finishing late from work then I'll get her tea first. We always have lunch together.

I think the meals over a week thing is probably quite relevant to us actually...my dd sounds like yours BabiesEverywhere! Some days she eats so much and then the next hardly anything!
